Moribund, meaning "being in a state of inactivity or obsolescence," comes from the Latin word meaning "to die" (mori), while morbid ("grisly, gruesome") is from the Latin morbus ("disease").

Morbid is an orb effect that makes an orb able to activate unrefreshed pegs, allowing them to gain damage. This also allows orbs that pierce through pegs to pick up damage during passing.

Something that is moribund is almost dead, like a moribund economy that has been stuck in a recession for years. In Latin, mori means "to die." You probably recognize this root in words like mortal, mortician, and mortuary.
